🔼 Teamwork Makes The Dream Work. The 4xMile relay crew of Sean Donoghue, Marco Langon, Liam Murphy, and Charlie O’Donovan were named National Athletes of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The group nearly set the world record in their Championship of America winning race. It’s the first time since 2015 that Villanova received a weekly national honor. They’ll host the Big East Championships beginning on Thursday and fans can get tickets here!

🔼 The Big Three. Three women’s lacrosse players earned Big East honors this week! Mary Moore was named Midfielder of the Week after scoring four goals and a career-high three assists against Marquette over the weekend. She added five draw controls to tie her season-high. Emma Verhoest earned Freshman of the Week for the third time this season. She had 10 draw controls against Marquette and already sits in Villanova’s top 10 for career and single season DCs. Sami Carey made the Weekly Honor Roll after tying her career-high with 10 points. She scored two goals and recorded a career-high eight assists.

🔼 Pitcher Perfect. Villanova softball’s Caroline Pellicano received Big East Honor Roll honors after collecting a save and a win at UConn over the weekend. On Friday, she came in the game in relief and retired the three batters she faced to earn her 14th career save, which ties the Villanova record. She entered in relief on Saturday as well and tossed two scoreless innings. She earned Sunday’s win after throwing three shutout innings and allowing just two hits.

🔼 Roll Call. Another week, another Big East Honor Roll selection for Stephen Zupicich. It’s his third-straight appearance on the list and his sixth of the season. He caused five turnovers and scooped up five ground balls against No. 11 Georgetown on Friday. He finished the regular season leading the nation with 44 caused turnovers and 3.14 per game.

🔼  Honey, We’re Home. Villanova is home to begin a seven-game homestand! They’ll start it off today at 3 pm when they host Saint Joseph’s. The Hawks are coming off a loss at UMass, while the Wildcats are coming off a loss at UConn. Cam Hassert is coming off a big game for Villanova, he went 3-for-4 at the plate on Sunday. He hit a solo home run and a two-RBI single when the ‘Cats were working on a comeback.

🔼 That’s A Wrap. The men’s golf team finished the Big East Championship in sixth-place as a team at 28-over. PJ O’Rourke led the Wildcats individually as he tied for 17th. Peter Weaver was behind him tied for 21st, while Jackson Lehner and Ryan Pamer tied for 26th.

🔷 ONE BIG THING

Five Wildcats will get a shot at the NFL! Two former Villanova football players signed NFL free agent contracts and three were invited to rookie mini camps. Running back Jalen Jackson signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, while offensive lineman Nick Torres signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. Linebacker Danny Abraham was invited to the Seattle Seahawks rookie mini camp, running back TD Ayo-Durojaiye was invited to the Chicago Bears and Chiefs camp, and wide receiver Jaaron Hayek was also invited to the Chiefs camp.
