🔼 WSOC vs. Penn. It took 76 minutes of a scoreless battle for the Villanova women’s soccer team to break through and create the distance it needed to defeat Penn, 1-0, on Thursday afternoon at Higgins Soccer Complex.
The ‘Cats improve their streak of shutouts to five straight on the year. Since last season, Villanova has not allowed a goal in 547 minutes of action, including a scoreless draw to end the 2025 campaign.
🔼 Fresh Face Friday. One of the newest members of the Villanova men’s hoops program didn’t always think his future was on the hardwood.
For freshman guard Adam Oumiddoch, his athletic endeavors began in the swimming pool, but we’d have to say the basketball path worked out quite well for him.
🔼 Show Stopper. It was quite a start to her final season with the ‘Cats for senior field hockey goalkeeper Maddie Sears.
After playing every minute in Villanova’s 2-0 opening weekend, Sears allowed just one goal and racked up 15 saves to lead the stifling defensive effort from the ‘Cats.
For her efforts, Sears was named the NFHCA Division 1 Defensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention.
Sears becomes the second player in program history to be selected as a NFHCA Honorable Mention, joining Lydia Sydnor who was selected in 2019. She is the first player in program history to be named Defensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention.
🔼 Back At It. The 17th-ranked Villanova Football squad hits the road for the first time this season Saturday night, traveling to northwest to Lewisburg for a 6 p.m. matchup with Bucknell.
It will be another important early Patriot League test for the Wildcats, who are looking to bounce back after a tough 35-32 loss to William & Mary in their season opener.
