🔼 Grand Opening. Now that’s one way to open up a season!

The Villanova volleyball team got their 2025 campaign started in grand fashion with a clean 3-0 sweep of Santa Clara and a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Notre Dame to go a perfect 2-0 at the Catholic Challenge in South Bend.

Abby Harrell was named the Tournament MVP while Campbell McKinnon and Cat Young each earned All-Tournament honors after the two-win weekend.

🔼 Off And Running. The Villanova cross country squads got off to a strong start this past weekend with the men running at the Lehigh Invitational and the women at Temple.

On the men’s side, the duo of junior CJ Sullivan and sophomore Charlie Moore crossed the finish line with virtually identical times and were the top two runners among the field of 73.
 
For the women, graduate student Lizzie Martell led the ‘Cats with a runner-up individual finish at the Temple Invite.

🔼 So Fresh, So Clean. The Villanova women’s soccer team continued its stifling defensive effort on Sunday, earning a third consecutive clean sheet with a 1-0 victory at Bucknell.

The ‘Cats have now gone 313:26 without giving up a goal and have now posted a streak of three straight shutouts for the second season in a row.

Amalia Cardo and Hannah Curtain linked up for the second time in three games to give Villanova the winning edge it needed as Cardo placed a beautiful free kick in front of Curtin for the 48^th minute goal. Hannah Dickinson grabbed two saves in her third solo shutout of the year, bringing her to nine in her Villanova career.

🔼 Coming Home. Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart are back at Villanova, and they’re bringing the Roommates Show 𝙃𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 to Finneran Pavilion on Wednesday, September 17 at 7 PM.

This isn’t just a podcast taping. It’s the official launch of the 2025–26 Villanova Men’s and Women’s Basketball seasons, with team introductions, live conversations with Coaches Kevin Willard and Denise Dillon, appearances from the 2016 National Champions, and even a surprise celebrity guest.
