The Official Newsletter of Villanova Athletics

Good Morning, Nova Nation. File this under things we love to see!

What all do we have in today’s edition? Check it out below!

🏀 Ready To Roll
⏱️ Countin’ Down: 37 Days
🔷 And much more!

Tommy’s Tavern + Tap is proud to be an Official Partner of Villanova Athletics!

🔼 Ready To Roll. To most Villanova fans, Nico Onyekwere was an intriguing unknown seen mostly on the bench and in the pregame layup line. Yet inside the Davis Center, he was a daily presence who showed steady growth in practice over the course of the 2025-26 campaign.

As a relative newcomer to organized basketball – Onyekwere played more soccer than hoops as a youngster in his native Nigeria – he spent last season as a redshirt, practicing daily, but not a part of the game-night lineup.

Now, he’s ready to roll.

🔼 Halfway Point. Former Villanova standout Maddy Siegrist and the Dallas Wings have reached the halfway point of the 2026 WNBA Season and sit in prime position for a playoff run.

After missing much of last season with an injury, Siegrist has returned and is averaging 6.0 ppg and 2.6 rpg in just over 13 minutes a game.

On Monday, she poured in 13 points, including a perfect 3-of-3 from long range in Dallas’ OT loss to the New York Liberty.

How many 3-pointers did Maddy Siegrist knock down during her incredible career with the Wildcats?

Got a guess?

🔼 Smarty Cats. For a second-straight season, Villanova Water Polo found itself with 19 All-Academic honorees, as announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) recently.

Along with the individual awards, Villanova also had the second-highest team GPA at 3.76. The 19 honorees match the program-best that was set by last year's squad.

🔼 Countin’ Down. We are now just 3️⃣7️⃣ days away from kickoff for the 2026 Villanova Football season.

Last October, the New Hampshire home crowd got an up close look of what was to come from Wildcat standout Ja’briel Mace. The New Jersey native rolled to a then-career high three TDs to lead Nova to a dominant 3️⃣7️⃣-7 victory over UNH, Villanova’s largest win over New Hampshire since 2009.

Mace scored two TDs on the ground and one in the air en route what would become an All-American season.
