🔼 ‘Cats On The Move. A trio of ‘Cats have moved on in the NBA playoffs and did so with authority.
Mikal Bridges (24 pts, five rebounds, three assists), Jalen Brunson (17 points, eight assists) and Josh Hart (14 points, five rebounds) led the New York Knicks to a dominant Game 6 victory over the Atlanta Hawks and secure the series win.
The Knicks now move on to the second round for the fourth season in a row.
🔼 Accolades Aplenty. It was a week full of accolades for both the Villanova men’s and women’s lacrosse squads with both programs earning six All-BIG EAST accolades.
The men’s accolades were highlighted by Jake Melchionni, who earned Specialist of the Year and a unanimous First Team nod. David Evanchick and Luke Raymond joined Melchionni on the First Team while George Glomb, Nick Lucchesi and Colin Michener were all selected for the Second Team.
It's the 16th straight year that the Wildcats have had multiple players earn postseason awards from the BIG EAST, and the 'Cats had the second most representatives on this year's list.
This year marked the fourth consecutive season that the women’s squad had five or more players recognized. Junior draw specialist Emma Verhoest and redshirt sophomore Mary Moore were unanimous selections to the All-BIG EAST First Team. Juniors Katie Clark and Rose Christie also earned First Team honors.
In addition, Leslie Iorio and Elena Torres were named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
🔼 Second Helpings. For the second time this season, Villanova's Varsity 8 has landed Boat of the Week honors from the CAA, as announced by the league on Wednesday afternoon.
Villanova's last laurel from the team came back on April 8 bringing the program to four Boat of the Week honors since the 2022 season.
🔼 Super Soph. Winning four straight matches to close out her sophomore season, Olivia Corcoran was recognized this week with a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
Competing at the top singles spot for most of the season, the second-year standout earned six singles victories for the ‘Cats.
