🔼 Bringing It Home. For the unprecedented 98th time in program history, a Championship of America wheel is on its way back to Lancaster Avenue. So strong, so unmatched, and so unrivaled is the Villanova legacy at the Penn Relays that some would say the wheel is coming home.
The latest Wildcats championship team – 94 years after the first one – is the 4xMile relay squad consisting of graduate student Sean Donoghue, sophomore Ben Thomas, junior Bailey Habler and senior Marco Langon.
🔼 They Still Got It. The 4xMile team wasn’t the only members of the Villanova family enjoying a celebration this weekend at the historic Penn Relays.
Almost immediately after bringing home the wheel, a pair of former ‘Cats had their own celebrations. Charlie O’Donovan (Olympic Development elite men’s mile) and McKenna Kegan (Olympic Development 800 meters) both took home victories in their events.
🔼 Finishing Strong. A season in which the biggest win in program history was recorded came to a close on Saturday in victorious fashion.
A season-high eight points from Mary Moore led the Villanova women’s lacrosse team to a dominant 18-9 win over Butler.
Moore scored a career-best six goals, while also dishing out two assists. Leslie Iorio added four goals, Rose Christie posted five assists and Elena Torres reached 100 career points with three helpers on the day.
🔼 Raising The Bar. Villanova saw more season-best times on Saturday as the team wrapped up their two days of action at the Lake Wheeler Invitational.
Two of Villanova's boats posted sub-seven minute showings in the final day of competition against nationally-ranked teams, including a team-best 6:43.960 by the Varsity 8 to close out the day.
