🔼 Playoff Bound. The NBA regular season is all wrapped up. Now the real fun begins.
This week, the NBA Play-In games and Playoffs get underway with six former Villanova standouts and their teams battling for the ultimate prize, the NBA Championship.
Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart helped the Knicks earn the three seed and will host the Atlanta Hawks in the first round. Donte DiVincenzo and the sixth-seeded Timberwolves head to Denver to take on the Nuggets, while Collin Gillespie (Suns) and Kyle Lowry (Sixers) will both be the seven seeds in the play-in field and look to earn their spot in the postseason tournament.
🔼 Setting The Pace. It was a busy and beautiful weekend on the water for the Villanova rowing team, who had a jam-packed two days of action at the Knecht Cup.
Both of the Fours placed the highest among Villanova's boats in the heats, crossing second in their morning races.
🔼 Saturday Sweepin’. It was a monster weekend for the 800m crew of the Villanova women’s track & field team as a quartet of ‘Cats produced a 1-2-3-4 sweep in the event at the Rutgers Relay on a highly successful day overall, which saw the Wildcats post season and personal best marks in seven different events.
Sophomore middle distance runner Bella Walsh had one of those PRs to win the 800 meters, while first year throwers Jess Bentum and Hallie Kees recorded top 10 marks on the Wildcats all-time performance lists in the hammer and the javelin, respectively.
On the men’s side, junior sprinter Ethan Walls broke 48 seconds for the first time in his career and recorded the fastest 400 meters by a Villanova runner in six years to highlight the weekend.
🔼 Sunday Funday. The Villanova women’s tennis team will head into the BIG EAST Tournament with momentum after a dominant Sunday.
The ‘Cats rolled from start to finish on Senior Day at Villanova Tennis Complex, sweeping visiting Haverford, 7-0, for their 11th victory of the season.
