🔼  Dixon Docket. This week’s BIG EAST Player of the Week is Eric Dixon! He was also named Co-Philadelphia Big Five Player of the Week and one of five Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week. He averaged 33.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game last week. He continues to lead the nation with 23.9 points per game. He also ranks third in scoring in program history, sits on multiple national award watch lists, and is one of three Wildcats ever with 2,000+ points and 800+ rebounds. Read more of the Dixon Docket.

🔼  Fell Short. The men’s basketball team fell to Georgetown in a close 75-73 game on the road. Georgetown went on a 15-4 run in the final minutes to get the win. Eric Dixon finished the night with 24 points, while Jordan Longino scored 17. The Wildcats will take a break until the BIG EAST Tournament starts next week.

🔼  Free Play. The women’s lacrosse team closed their West Coast road trip with a 10-9 overtime win over UC Davis! Sophia Corretjer and Elena Torres scored three goals each. Cate Gallagher had four saves, while Emma Verhoest had five draw controls. The Wildcats are back on the East Coast and will have a break until March 12 when they host Lafayette.

🔼 Team Win. The men’s lacrosse team downed Drexel 9-6 yesterday! It was a full team effort with two goals each from David Link, Nicholas Lucchesi, Matt Licata and Colin Michener. They’ll hit the road for the first time since last April as they go to Penn on Satuday.

🔼 Honoring Legends. The BIG EAST Conference will honor a former prominent coach or player from both their men’s and women’s basketball programs at the BIG EAST Tournaments as part of the Basketball Legends Recognition Program.

Villanova has selected Lisa Angelotti-Gedaka to represent the women’s team. She led the Wildcats to three NCAA Tournaments and was named BIG EAST Player of the Year as a senior. In 2002, she became the fifth Wildcat women’s basketball player to have her jersey retired.

Ed Pinckney will be honored at the men’s conference tournament. He was the Final Four MVP in 1985 when the Wildcats beat No. 1 Georgetown to win the National Championship. He went on to play 12 years in the NBA.
