🔼  Stayin’ Alive. The women’s basketball team advanced to the WBIT Quarterfinals after beating Saint Joseph’s 62-60 yesterday! Maddie Burke hit the go-ahead three-pointer with less than 10 seconds remaining. Jasmine Bascoe led the Wildcats with 15 points. They’ll play Portland on Thursday.

🔼  Throwing Down. The track & field teams had a solid outing at the Penn Challenge over the weekend. Adria Retter tallied a lifetime best and the second-longest throw in school history in the discus! All of the competing men’s team throwers recorded collegiate PRs. Liam Anderson and Chris Coulter reached 14 meters for the first time in their collegiate careers.

🔼  Sweep Dreams. Villanova softball swept Georgetown on the road over the weekend! Maddie Burrows belted two home runs in Friday’s 11-3 run-rule win. The Wildcats hit a season-high five home runs in Saturday’s 12-3 win. Ava Franz hit two homers, while Maranda Runco, Brooklyn Ostrowski and Kelsey White hit one each. Sunday’s 4-2 win saw a pitcher’s duel as Kat Gallant struck out five to earn the save.

🔼  Brought The Power. Villanova baseball brought the boom on Saturday and Sunday. Despite scoring 10 runs, the Wildcats fell to Wofford 11-10 on Saturday. They bounced back on Sunday to win 10-5. Jason Neff and Brayden Leonard led the way at the plate with a home run each. The two have 26 hits apiece this season. The Wildcats will play at Delaware State tomorrow at 3 p.m.

🔼 BIG Win. The women’s lacrosse team won their BIG EAST opener against UConn, 11-7. Elena Torres scored four goals to lead the Wildcats. Sophia Corretjer recorded a hat trick with three goals. Emma Verhoest remained dominant with seven draw controls. They’ll host Butler on Saturday at 1 p.m.
