🔼 Sailing To The ‘Ship. Rivalry games always have a little extra juice.

It was no different on Monday night when the Villanova men’s hoops team needed a second-half burst to pull away from Temple for its sixth straight victory, 74-56, to earn a spot in Saturday night’s championship game of the Big Five Classic against Penn at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Tip time is set for 7:30 p.m.

Junior Tyler Perkins led all scorers with 19 points, while freshmen sensation Acaden Lewis ignited the 9-0 second half burst that ultimately put the game away and finished with 12 points and eight assists.

🔼 Ain’t No Mountain High. The men’s hoops squad isn’t the only one rolling right now as the Villanova women went on the road on Monday and brought home a massive win over 25th-ranked West Virginia.

Jasmine Bascoe scored a game-high 24 points and dished out six assists to lead the ‘Cats to a dominant 81-59 upset of the Mountaineers.

🔼 Breaking Out. The breaking out party for Collin Gillespie continued this week in Los Angeles.

In Monday’s win over the Lakers, Gillespie poured in a career-best 28 points, dished out five assists and grabbed four rebounds to lead the Suns’ to a 125-108 victory.

For the season, Gillespie is averaging a career-best 13.4 points, 5.0 assists and 3.8 rebounds per outing.

🔼 Region’s Best. For the first time since 2019, Villanova has landed an All-Region nod with Hannah Dickinson earning a spot on the All-East Third Team.

The honor brings Villanova to 34 All-Region accolades from the United Soccer Coaches since 1986. She is the 11^th Wildcat to be named a Third-Team selection.

This is the third postseason accolade Dickinson has earned this year, adding to her All-BIG EAST and College Sports Communicators Academic All-District awards she has garnered in the last month. She is one of 15 BIG EAST players to land on the All-East list.
