🔼 Ring The Bell. Villanova football picked up a 20-14 road win at Hampton. Linebacker Brendan Bell scored the game-winning touchdown with a four-yard rush. On the other side of the ball, he recorded seven tackles. David Avit scored the other Wildcat rushing touchdown. Jaylan Sanchez recorded his fourth career 100-yard receiving game with 103 yards. Villanova returns home on Saturday to play North Carolina A&T at 1 p.m.

🔼 We Are The Champions. The men’s cross country team won the BIG EAST Championship! The Wildcats scored 35 points to come away with the title. Liam Murphy and Marco Langon finished 1 and 2 to win Villanova’s ninth BIG EAST title. Murphy won the individual conference title for the second straight year. All five of the scoring Wildcats finished in the top 18 and earned All-BIG EAST honors after the race.

The women’s team finished fourth at the meet. Sadie Sigfstead earned her third career top-five finish, coming in fourth. Emma McGill and Margaret Carroll also finished in the top 20.

🔼  Time For Tipoff. The men’s basketball team begins their 105th season tonight! They’ll host Lafayette at 8 p.m. Fans can watch inside Finneran Pavilion, on the Fox Sports app, or FS1 as they’ll feature live look-ins from around the conference. The Wildcats won their lone exhibition game against Robert Morris last week.

🔼 Comeback Complete. The field hockey team had a comeback win over Providence on Friday! They went down by two goals but bounced back to take the lead in the third quarter and win 3-2. Sabine de Ruijter scored two goals, while Jane Bresnahan recorded the first of her career. Maddi Sears recorded three saves to earn the win. De Ruijter and Meghan Mitchell tied for the most games played in Villanova history and broke the record for most consecutive starts with 84.

🔼 Back-To-Back. The men’s swimming and diving team got their second win in three days on Friday. They defeated NJIT 178-118 with 10 first-place finishes and 29 in the top-three. Chris Jones swept the diving events, winning the 1-meter with a new personal-best score of 275.58. Zach Sutter won the 50 free, 100 free and was part of the winning 200 medley relay group. Owen Nye took first in the 1000 free for the third consecutive meet. They’ll face La Salle on Friday in Philadelphia.
