🔼 Monster Matchup. It doesn’t get any bigger than this one, folks.
This afternoon at Higgins Soccer Complex, the unbeaten Villanova women’s soccer team welcomes reigning BIG EAST champions, Xavier, to town for a monster midweek matchup.
Today’s showdown pits the top two teams in the league standings against each other with Villanova sitting on top with nine points and Xavier right behind with seven.
Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
Villanova women’s soccer enters today’s matchup with Xavier ranking in the top-10 nationally in scoring offense (8th - 2.82 goals per game) and scoring defense (3rd - 0.273 goals-against-average).
How many other teams nationally rank in the top-10 in both categories?
Got a guess?

🔼 Fast Start. The Villanova men’s soccer team got back in the win column on Tuesday, using two goals in the first 17 minutes of the contest to come away with a 3-1 victory over visiting New Haven.
Junior Fynn Lahrsen led the way with a goal and an assist, helping the ‘Cats grab a quick 2-0 lead that they would never relinquish.
🔼 Sneak Peek. Sunday will provide the first look at this year’s Villanova men’s basketball squad as the ‘Cats are set to travel to Rutgers to square off with former BIG EAST rival Rutgers in an exhibition contest.
Coming off a 24-9 campaign and an NCAA Tournament appearance in head coach Kevin Willard's first season, Villanova will get an early opportunity to showcase its retooled roster.
Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. with the game being streamed live on B1G+.
🔼 Moving On. The spring season is still months away, but senior Sophia Corretjer is putting in work on the lacrosse field.
This past weekend, Corretjer and her Puerto Rico Lacrosse teammates qualified for the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championship by grinding out a hard-fought victory over Argentina on Friday.
With the victory, Corretjer and her teammates advance one step closer to qualifying for the 2028 Summer Olympics.
🔼 Three’s Company. The accolades are piling up!
For the second time this season, Villanova women’s soccer finds itself with three representatives among this week’s BIG EAST Weekly Awards.
Avrie Nelsen and Hannah Dickinson were tabbed the league's Offensive Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, while Meredith Palmer landed a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll.
These latest laurels bring Villanova to 11 total weekly honors from the conference this season. The trio were all also named to the list together back on August 31.
