🔼 The Hawks Stop Here. The last one of a career high 13 tackles for fifth year linebacker Garrett Rogan was a sack on the final play of the game as Villanova football held off visiting No. 11 Lehigh as time expired in a Homecoming Weekend thriller at Villanova Stadium early Saturday evening.
Rogan nearly doubled his previous career high for tackles in a game which was seven in each of the first two games this season. Junior linebacker Omari Bursey had another huge game with 13 tackles of his own to notch his fifth game this year with 10+ total stops.
Villanova won for the sixth straight year on Homecoming Weekend and improved to 40-21 all-time in Homecoming games in a tradition that started in 1958.
🔼 Not In Our House. Villanova volleyball put together an impressive weekend at Jake Nevin Fieldhouse, earning a pair of BIG EAST victories over St. John's and Seton Hall.
The Wildcats opened the weekend with a thrilling five-set victory over St. John's on Friday (27-25, 11-25, 25-20, 14-25, 15-10) before defeating Seton Hall in four sets Saturday (25-23, 24-26, 25-20, 25-16).
Campbell McKinnon led the Wildcats offensively with 34 kills and 16 digs across the two matches, highlighted by a 21-kill, 12-dig double-double against Seton Hall. Setter Alyssa Nelson directed the offense with an impressive 90 assists, including 47 against Seton Hall, while Mina Diggs anchored the defense with 32 digs on the weekend.
🔼 Rollin’ On The Road. The Villanova field hockey squad enjoyed its time on the road this weekend, sweeping a pair of matches with a 2-1 BIG EAST victory over Providence on Friday, followed by a 3-1 win at Wagner on Sunday.
Five different ‘Cats found the back of the cage with Molly Zimmerman and Colleen Finnan scoring fourth-quarter goals in Friday’s win, while Evangeline Minnella, Katharina Balks and Adie Minnella all scored in Sunday’s victory.
🔼 Record Breakers. 20 event victories and six pool records highlighted a busy Saturday in the pool for the Villanova swimming & diving programs.
The ‘Cats battled Georgetown in a dual with the women’s team taking home a 201-87 win.
The women’s squad took home 14 event victories, while the men had six on the day.
