🔼 Monday Night Magic. Even battling an injury, former Villanova standout Christian Benford showed what he can do to a national audience on Monday Night Football.
Playing in one of the biggest matchups of the early NFL season, Benford posted a career-high 10 tackles in Buffalo’s thrilling 37-34 overtime win over preseason Super Bowl favorite, Los Angeles.
In four games this year, Benford has 26 tackles, three pass deflections and one TFL.
In 36 career games at Villanova, how many tackles did Christian Benford rack up with the ‘Cats?

🔼 Zappin’ Em. Thanks to a stellar showing in the draw at Providence on Saturday, Villanova junior forward Dez Zapata was lauded as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week.
This is the first time in Zapata's career that she has been recognized by the league. Her honor brings Villanova to 13 weekly nods from the BIG EAST this season from five players.
The Smyrna, Delaware native has been on a scoring tear as of late, accounting for at least a point in five of the team's last seven games. She is tied for first in the BIG EAST with six assists this season, good enough for 40th in the nation.
🔼 City’s Finest. Behind a seven-point performance in Saturday’s draw with Providence, Karson Vazquez was tabbed as the Philly Soccer Six Player of the Week.
The native of Winter Garden, Fla, was also named to the BIG EAST weekly Honor Roll.
Also recognized this week was junior Alex Yagudayev, who made 21 saves in a 1-0-1 week for Villanova. He is the Philly Soccer Six Goalkeeper of the Week.
🔼 Doublin’ Up. For a third straight week, Villanova field hockey earns two selections to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Forward Colleen Finnan and Back Gemma Lysaght both collected spots on the Weekly Honor Roll.
Finnan and Lysaght's nominations extend the 'Cats to a total of ten BIG EAST Weekly Awards this season. The two also mark the 22nd pair of Wildcats to be selected to the Weekly Honor Roll in the same week. The most recent pair was last week, when Maddi Sears and Finnan were selected after a win over Georgetown.
🔼 We Were On A Break. Villanova Golf spent the early days of the fall break competing at the SHU Fall Classic.
The Wildcats placed third out of 11 teams, shooting 892 (+28), just nine shots back of the winners, the host Sacred Heart Pioneers.
Vibhav Alokam tied for fifth in the tournament, his first top-five finish of the season. The junior finished with 220 strokes, resulting to four over par. Evan Rohde earned his second top-10 finish of the season by tying for 10th place. The freshman shot 223 (+7), highlighted by a team-leading 71-stroke (-1) first round.
