🔼 Malcolm In The Middle. Freshman forward Malcolm Thomas knew about BIG EAST basketball from the moment he was born. His father, Etan Thomas, was a two-time BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year at Syracuse in 1999 & 2000. His mother, Nichole, also played basketball at Syracuse.

Attending prep school at DeMatha High School, Malcolm expanded his offensive skill set and gathered a feel for defense that is rare at that level. He calls himself a, “defensive minded, two-way player.”

🔼  All That Jas. Freshman women’s basketball player Jasmine Bascoe put on for her country! She led Canada Basketball to a silver medal at the FIBA U18 Women’s Americup 2024. They defeated Argentina, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Brazil before facing Team USA in the final.

Bascoe finished the final game with a team-high 18 points. Her performance earned her a spot on the All-Tournament team, averaging 14.8 points and a tournament-high 4.7 assists per game throughout the week.

🔼  Future Is Bright. Incoming Villanova women’s soccer freshman Morgan Kotch has been named the New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year! The forward scored 37 goals for the Pennington School this season as her team went 21-0. She graduated as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 108 goals. During her junior year, she also broke the school’s single-season scoring record with 40 goals.
